It is well known that HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands loved Ferraris, especially in his favourite colour green. Displayed here is one of the most beautiful Ferraris he ever owned, a 1965 500 Superfast Speziale. A mere 37 Ferrari Superfast cars were built, and among these rare models Prince Bernhard's former car is unique in itself.

Prins Bernhard stond met zijn Ferrari- sportwagen in een file toen hij plotseling werd aangereden door de Italiaan, aldus een zegsman van de prins. Prins Bernhard trok zich het ongeluk erg aan. Hij stapte uit om zich op de hoogte te stellen van ''t lot van de Italiaan. Die werd meteen naar het ziekenhuis van Orbetello vervoerd.

Prince Bernhard paid 3.575m Lire for 0725 GT. Its Tipo 508 C chassis was delivered to the Pinin Farina plant in July 1957 and the car was completed in Maranello that October. Painted black with a green interior, as soon as it was ready, Ferrari delivered the car to Prince Bernhard's residence, the Soestdijk Palace on the outskirts of Baarn.

Prince Bernhard of Holland was a huge Ferrari fan, and indeed was a close personal friend of Enzo. He always had his cars from Maranello finished in Verde Pinto. Now in stock is BBR's 1:18 rendition of the 500 Superfast that he commissioned in 1965, and which now resides in Holland's Louwman Museum.

Hier staat een van de allermooiste Ferrari's die hij ooit in zijn bezit had, een 500 Superfast Speziale uit 1965. Van de Ferrari Superfast zijn slechts 37 exemplaren.

Vanochtend schreven we al over de Ferrari's van Prins Bernhard. Naar aanleiding hiervan raakten we in gesprek met Joky van Dieten, die al 40 jaar in Canada woont. Van Dieten was de allereerste Ferrari-coureur van Nederland en de eerste vrouwelijke coureur van Europa. Inmiddels is ze 74 jaar en rijdt met een spierwitte Hummer H1 de wereld rond.
